Sofia and Botevgrad
Sofia and Botevgrad
Sofia is the capital and largest city of Bulgaria. Located in the western part of the country, it has a population of over 1.2 million people. Sofia is a city rich in history, culture, and architecture. Some of its most famous landmarks include the Alexander Nevsky Cathedral, the National Palace of Culture, and the Boyana Church, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Sofia is also a major educational and economic center.
Botevgrad is a smaller town located about 60 kilometers northeast of Sofia. It has a population of around 20,000 people. Though not as large or famous as Sofia, Botevgrad is known for its peaceful environment and beautiful surrounding nature. The town has several parks, cultural monuments, and is home to the International Business School. Many people from Botevgrad travel to Sofia for work or study, as the two cities are well connected by road and public transport.
Together, Sofia and Botevgrad represent different aspects of life in Bulgaria — the fast-paced city life and the calm, natural atmosphere of a smaller town.
