Dibujar la modernidad : De Fortuny a Tàpies

This didactic unit is designed to explore the exhibition Dibujar la modernidad: From Fortuny to Tàpies, organised by the MAPFRE Foundation in collaboration with Estepona City Council, and open to the public from 26 October 2024 to 23 February 2025.
This exhibition offers a captivating artistic journey through drawing, a medium that, between the mid-19ᵉ and mid-20ᵉ centuries, evolved into an art in its own right, both autonomous and expressive.
The exhibition highlights how drawing, initially a medium for more accomplished works, gradually became independent. We will discover works by masters such as Ignacio Pinazo, Edgar Degas, Auguste Rodin and Gustav Klimt, which mark an important turning point in the visual history of this period. The tour also includes drawings by Pablo Picasso, a pioneer of Cubism, and other artists such as Joan Miró and Salvador Dalí, who illustrate the influence of Surrealism.
Through this unit, students will learn to analyse these works in English, developing their language skills while deepening their understanding of modern art. This study invites them to discover the diversity of techniques and styles, testifying to the richness of drawing as a personal and artistic expression.
