QUIÑONES: AL ORIGEN

Languages and Art Project – EOI Estepona

At the Official School of Languages of Estepona (EOI Estepona), we believe that art is a powerful tool for learning languages. It stimulates creativity, critical thinking, and cultural awareness—key elements for meaningful communication and intercultural understanding.

As part of our Languages and Art Project, this didactic unit connects language learning with artistic expression through the exhibition “QUIÑONES: AL ORIGEN”, by the Andalusian sculptor Juan Miguel Quiñones. His marble sculptures transform everyday childhood objects—ice creams, beach toys, surfboards—into timeless works of art that invite us to reflect on memory, play, and identity.

This unit encourages students to explore how objects from the past can tell stories and evoke emotions, while practicing language structures related to past tenses, description, and personal storytelling. Through guided oral and written activities, learners will develop their communicative skills by expressing personal memories, comparing experiences, and interpreting works of art.

By integrating local culture, art, and language, the unit aims to bring real-life inspiration into the classroom and open the door to learning beyond the textbook—connecting students’ linguistic growth with the rich cultural landscape of Estepona and the Costa del Sol.
