ATLANTAS de José Fernández Ríos. Avda. Andalucía, 115
ATLANTAS (RAQUEL PASTOR MENA-2ºC)
This mural represents a Caryatid, which is a feminine figure from classical Greece sculpted in the form of a column. Here we can see a woman who is holding the Earth in her hands.
This mural isn’t colourful, but in my opinion it’s the most important mural in Estepona. I think it represents women as a fundamental pillar of life. It shows the immense responsibility that women have always had and which has hardly ever been acknowledged.
Every time I see this picture, I feel a very important person, because I know this mural was created with us women in mind.
ATLANTAS (CLAUDIA ESPERANZA TORRES DÍAZ; MACARENA LEÓN SÁNCHEZ; RODOLFO ANDRÉS SALVADOR MARTORANA Y ALEJANDRO NÚÑEZ RAIGÓN.1º SEMIPRESENCIAL)
We have chosen Atlantas mural for its message and its realism, a tribute to women for their importance in the world. It is one of our favourite murals, perfectly located in a building between “Avenida Andalucía” and “Los Reales”. A good work by José Fernandez Ríos, which opened on March 9, 2019, taking advantage of the closeness of the International Women’s Day. We believe that it is a very representative work to claim the figure of women, who have been made invisible throughout history.
